GP COLLABORATIVE

The Sheffield GP Collaborative
GP Centre
Northern General Hospital
Herries Road
Sheffield
S5 7AU

Google map location »

Patients must ring the GP Practice, this will divert to the out of hours service:

0845 120 4443 - Ecclesfield Surgery
0845 124 2664 - Margetson Surgery

Initial demographic details are taken (entered onto computer system) and then a doctor phones the patient back to make a more detailed clinical assessment. At this stage the doctor will then decide with the patient the best course of action. One option is to arrange an appointment with a doctor at the GP Centre. At this stage patients are normally given an appointment time and instructions on how to get to the GP Centre.

Patients just turning up without going through the proper process and don't have an appointment will not be seen.

WALK-IN CENTRE (Adults and Children)

COMMUNITY PHARMACISTS

Your local pharmacy offers a range of services and advice for minor illness such as coughs, headache, earache, sore throats and stomach upsets.

They can suggest over-the-counter remedies or, if you don’t pay for your prescriptions, some pharmacists will be able to prescribe medicines to treat these conditions and they will be free.

Opening hours may be longer than GP surgeries.

ACCIDENT & EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT

The A&E department is for people needing EMERGENCY medical attention or who have had an ACCIDENT.

An emergency is a situation where someone is experiencing a loss of consciousness, heavy bleeding, suspected broken bones, chest pain, breathing difficulties, an overdose, has swallowed something harmful, poisoning or has a deep wound.

BEFORE you go to A&E THINK!

• Is this an emergency/accident?
• Can I wait and see my GP?
• Could another GP help me?
• Would an alternative service be better and quicker?
