Confidentiality and Access to Patient Information |
We will do our utmost to maintain the highest possible
standards of confidentiality. Staff are contracted to
follow the regulations as laid down in the Data
Protection Act (1998) and the Access to Health Records
Act (1990). We will not use or divulge to others any
confidential information in the course of consultation,
for any purpose other than clinical care.
The only exceptions are:
• With the consent of the patient e.g. for completing
insurance and medical reports
• If the law requires e.g. notifying certain illnesses
• If there is an overriding duty to society
